This Second Cycle Degree Programme equips students with a thorough knowledge in the field of history of art and artistic techniques from the Middle Ages to the Contemporary Age. It produces experts in various sectors of artistic production or specific subject areas. Learning activities, frequently on a seminar basis, will lead to in-depth analysis of fundamental knowledge of these study areas and will be enriched by subjects that are not included in the corresponding First Cycle Degree Programme.
Internships will be organized in cooperation with educational and cultural institution.

Learning activities comprise taught courses, seminars, workshops and internships so that students can acquire a broad range of competencies that are transferable to the world of work. Learning outcomes are continuously assessed by means of written and oral exams.
The final exam consists of a dissertation that must contain original research, documentation and exhaustive scientific analysis, and that must be defended before a committee made up of university professors and experts.
Qualifications/expertise after completing the program
Second cycle graduates in Art History and Conservation of the Artistic Heritage may hold positions of high responsibility in public and private institutions in charge of study, classification, safeguarding, conservation, enhancement and management of the historical-artistic heritage (superintendences, museums, national and international bodies, foundations).
Entry qualification: Bachelor diploma (or higher)
Admission to the programme is subjected to the evaluation of the minimum curricular requirements and personal preparation, which is checked through the pre-evaluation procedure.
For students holding qualifications gained abroad: a minimum three-year degree is required.
The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Italian.
You will need official translations along with verified copies of the original documents.
The official translation can be issued in the country of origin or in Italy - either by a local court of law, by court interpreters or by official translators. The entry qualification documents must also be legalised or bear the Apostille stamp certifying that the signature or seal on the document is genuine, and submitted in the original or certified copy.
You do not need to legalise the documents if:
- the qualification has been awarded by one of the signatory Countries of the European Convention of Brussels of 25 May, 1987 - Law 106/1990 (Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy);
- the qualification has been awarded by a German institution, following the Italo-German Convention on the exemption from legalization of public documents - Law 176/1973.
You must bring the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.
B2 level is required.

Please notice that students lacking suitable certification in Italian will have to take a preliminary Italian language test, held every academic year at the beginning of September.
The following students do not need to submit evidence of Italian language proficiency: Italian mother-tongue students, EU students (wherever resident), non-EU students who have been living in Italy for at least a year.
B2 level of English language is also required.

Please notice that students lacking certification in English will be required to fulfill the requirement in the first year of studies.
Admission to an open access Master's Degree course does not involve a selection process. However, you are required to have an adequate personal preparation and hold specific requisites. In this case, the Teaching Committee of reference will carry out an assessment.
A certified knowledge of English at minimum level B2 is also required.
