The principal objective of the course is to provide solid scientific, methodological and operative understanding to form a Scienziato Conservatore (Conservation scientist), able to confront the most significant phases, in a responsible way, for the conservation of historic-artistic patrimony in different contexts, starting from the analysis of the Constitution of the asset, and from its state of conservation, to the the identification of methods and materials for restoration and design solutions for preventing future degradation.

The study will be in an experimental and / or applied nature, with particular attention paid to the development and application of new technologies, either in the field of diagnostics or intervention or both. This research will also cover the particular case studies, from which the scientific and innovative approach to issues related to restoration will emerge. The final examination, presented in the form of a written report and prepared by the student under the guidance of  the student's tutor, will deal with the work performed and documented by the candidate during their studies.
